Great question! Once you’ve reached your target weight, you have two options: continue the medication at the same dose, or taper it off gradually.

  1. Continue at the same dose

    • Long-term use is medically safe.

    • Some people lose a few extra kilos by continuing.

  2. Taper off gradually

    • Do not stop suddenly; gradually reducing the dose lowers the chance of regaining weight.

    • Example tapering schedule (per week):

      • 4 weeks: 0.5 mg per week

      • 4 weeks: 0.25 mg per week

      • Then: stop if desired

While tapering, monitor your weight. If it’s hard to maintain, we can adjust the schedule together and slow down the tapering.

Tips for using the pen:

  • You can keep using the 1 mg pen and adjust the dose by turning the dial fewer clicks:

    • 36 clicks = 0.5 mg

    • 18 clicks = 0.25 mg

  • This way, the pen lasts longer.

  • Note: pens are only good for 6 weeks after opening, then they should be discarded.
