Lost or forgotten medication on your holiday

Written by Maarten

Because Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro are weekly injections, a missed dose doesn't have to be a big problem — as long as you act in time.

Ozempic / Wegovy:

  • Forgot and less than 5 days have passed? Administer the dose as soon as you notice.

  • More than 5 days have passed? Skip the missed dose and continue on your normal schedule.

Mounjaro:

  • Forgot and less than 4 days have passed? Administer the dose as soon as you notice.

  • More than 4 days have passed? Skip the missed dose and continue on your normal schedule.

Never take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

What if you miss several doses — for example during a longer holiday?

Don't panic. Thanks to the long-lasting effect of these medications, the effect remains present in your body longer than you might think, even after a missed dose. So a holiday without your pen isn't immediately the end of your treatment.

Back home? Simply pick up your normal schedule again. In most cases, you won't need to build up the dose again. Do you notice a temporary increase in appetite after returning home? That's normal — your body quickly readjusts to the medication.

💡 Tip: request a travel document from Wellis before your holiday, so you're always prepared. More info can be found in the article Can I get a travel document / statement to bring my medication on the plane?
